Frequently Asked Questions

How to Order Tickets

We are thrilled to have you as our guest at The Paramount Theater! Ticket orders may be placed online, by phone at 434.979.1333, or in person at The Paramount Box Office at 215 East Main Street. Ticket requests will be filled in the order in which they are received. Contributors to The Paramount receive advance ticket ordering privileges. If you are not currently a member, you may add your tax-deductible membership contribution to your ticket order.

Receiving Your Tickets

Tickets will be mailed within two weeks from the time you place your order. All ticket orders placed less than a week prior to the performance date will be held at the Box Office for pickup, either during regular business hours, or at Will Call one hour prior to the performance. If your tickets have not been received by one week prior to the show date, please call the Box Office at 434.979.1333.

Handling Fees

A handling fee applies to each ticket purchased. Phone and internet orders are subject to an additional transaction fee. All tickets purchased in person in The Paramount’s Box Office will exclude all convenience fees. Tickets for multiple shows may be included on a single order.

Student Rush Tickets

To make Paramount events more accessible, all students are eligible to purchase remaining tickets to Paramount Presents shows at a 50% discount 45 minutes prior to each performance. Student Rush Tickets may be purchased only in person at the Paramount Box Office, and all students must show a valid student ID or proof of enrollment to obtain the discount.

Youth/Child Tickets

Youth/Child tickets are for patrons age 12 and younger. All children, regardless of age, are required to have a ticket (no “babes in arms”). Any child attending an evening performance should be able to sit quietly through the show. As a courtesy to other audience members, please use discretion in bringing a young child to a performance not designated for children. In some cases, performances without a Youth/Child price level may be inappropriate for young children. Please contact the Box Office at 434.979.1333 for additional information.

Group Discounts

Share the magic of the performing arts with your friends and family! Groups of 20 or more attending Paramount performances receive a 10% discount on the price of tickets. The complete order for a group should be placed at one time. Group Discounts do not apply to all shows. Please contact the Box Office at 434.979.1333 for more information.

Preserving The Paramount

The price of tickets to all Paramount Theater events includes a small donation to The Paramount’s Building Preservation Fund, which supports the long-term maintenance, restoration, and improvements of Charlottesville’s Paramount Theater.

Services for Patrons with Disabilities

The Paramount offers accessible seating arrangements, an elevator serving all levels of the complex, accessible public restroom facilities, infrared audio enhancement systems, and sign language interpretation (when requested at least one month in advance). Please contact the Box Office for more information.

Gift Certificates

Paramount Theater gift certificates make a great gift for any occasion! Gift certificates may be purchased in any denomination, and can be redeemed toward the purchase of tickets to most Paramount Presents performances (not including rental performances), or a Paramount Theater membership. Please contact the Box Office at 434.979.1333.

Cancelled Performances

If a Paramount Theater performance is cancelled, you will get a refund for the face value of the tickets or you may exchange them toward another Paramount event. Refunds are granted only for cancelled performances. All events are subject to performer, date, or time changes. Should a change in the scheduled program occur, The Paramount will make a timely announcement and contact ticket holders as efficiently as possible.

Severe Weather Policy

In the case of severe weather conditions, Paramount Theater events will go on as scheduled if the artist is in Charlottesville and ready to perform. Only if the artist is unable to perform as scheduled will the show be postponed or cancelled. The Paramount’s website will be updated if there are any changes to the event in question. In addition, all ticket holders will receive an email from the Paramount of any changes. We will do our best to communicate a cancellation or postponement on the theater’s phone system but the website will be the best and first place to look for updates to the status of any show.

Lost Tickets

If you lose your tickets, The Paramount’s Box Office will issue replacement tickets to the purchaser on record. Call the Box Office as soon as possible after the loss of tickets to arrange for your duplicates. For your protection, replacement tickets will not be issued earlier than one hour prior to the performance time.

Ticket Refunds and Exchanges

All Paramount Theater ticket sales are final. Paramount Theater supporters at the Star Circle level ($1,000 annually) and above may exchange tickets for alternate Paramount Presents events. Tickets for Paramount Presents events (not including rental performances) that you are unable to use may be donated to The Paramount Theater’s annual fund as a tax-deductible contribution, provided that they are returned to the Box Office at least 48 hours prior to the given performance.

Parking

You may purchase parking passes for individual Paramount Theater shows for a discounted rate of $9 for each event when you place your ticket order. Passes are only valid at the Water Street parking garage until closing time on the day of the performance. Rates are subject to change. Parking is also available in the Market Street parking garage, the Water Street open lot, and on the street in Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall area.

Admission and Late Seating Policy

The Paramount’s Box Office will open one hour prior to the performance on show nights. The theater lobby will also open one hour before the performance, and the auditorium doors will open approximately a half hour prior to curtain.

All events start promptly at the time printed on the ticket. Latecomers will not be seated until the first appropriate pause in the program, as determined by the house staff. Thank you for your cooperation.

Food & Beverages

A variety of food and beverage items will be available in The Paramount’s lobby areas prior to performances and during intermission. Refreshments may be enjoyed inside the auditorium for many but not all shows. Please check with an usher or call the Box Office for more show specific information.

Electronic Device Etiquette

Please remember to turn off all cellular phones, pagers, and electronic watch alarms before entering the theater. Cameras and recording devices of any type are not permitted at any Paramount Theater performance, and such devices brought into the theater in violation of this policy are subject to removal.
